Austin J. Orwin

Austin is a self-taught sculptor, predominantly working in stone and wood.  He uses carving techniques to release an envisioned form from a solid, inanimate raw material.  He takes great joy from working with these materials, and often allows the nature of them to come through in his finished work.  Whilst some of his work can be described as 'abstracted', or at the very least 'stylised', he also takes inspiration from many organic forms, including the human form.  Working with children in schools keeps reaffirming his belief that imagination is indeed limitless - something we often forget in our adult lives.

As well as producing his sculpture, Austin offers a range of educational workshops working in a variety of mediums, and is also available for commission work.
