Glenn Ibbitson

Glenn's work covers a broad range of subject matter, all in a representational idiom. His central interest is the human figure, often observed as a foreshortened scape in which peculiar details have been carefully depicted; the asymmetry of a pair of ears, the angle one toe makes with its neighbour, the sideways fall of a breast under its own particular weight.
Working as a Scenic Artist for film and television 1988-2003 [several years with BBC] provided opportunities to practice visual trickery on an industrial scale. This experience is now being used to investigate the nature of trompe-l’oeil effects and [mis]representation. informing the latest work with a sense of visual discord; producing images which blur the line between the genuine and the fraudulent, reality and illusion
