Carole King
Carole graduated from S.I.A.D. with a degree in Fine Art. She now lives and works in Newcastle Emlyn; using the landscape and wild flowers of West Wales as her inspiration.
Her prints and paintings of flora are developed from a macro viewpoint, using heightened colour and cropped images to accentuate structural qualities. The folklore and iconology associated with specific flower species are used to create additional layers of meaning within single works.
The landscape is subject to similar scrutiny. Pembrokeshire megaliths are not painted as archaeological sites viewed from a respectful distance, but from close quarters, examining how they interact pictorially with the landscape.
